Call pathology ( 407-841-5111 ext. 5217) prior to harvesting muscle biopsy so that pathologist may advise surgeon; place muscle biopsy in a saline damp gauze in a clean container. Send Stat to lab. DO NOT FIX in formalin. If delay of more than 1 hour is expected in transport, place the specimen container on wet ice to ship.
